In 90’s era the world of child was surrounded by parents, family member and neighbour friends. Children’s usage of gadget was limited, like Sunday tv show and more than that video games that were not easily accessible.But now the scenario changes, gaming world make our child tame.
If we ask our grandparents, they will say that their childhood was most probably spent with nature. Wow! what a wonderful time it was.
After hearing this kind of stories, we feel pleased, going somewhere in the past and mesmerised for a while but when we open our eyes and see what happened with today’s childhood, the situation of children we feel shocked as their childhood is being ruined by online games on smartphone, tablet and laptop.
We can see that the online gaming platform has left nothing to make situation out of control. It is almost impossible for us to keep them away from gaming world. Even then we should keep an eye on the situation and take care of that the situation would not go out of control and our child does not get addiction of it. This all things affect the life of childrent and parents.
Corona accelerate usage of gadgets
After corona period the situation has gone worsened as the online study and restriction over them to not go outside forced them to have resorted of gaming world for entertainment and to get rid of boredom. Corona accelerated usage of gadgets. We all knows that this kind of usage is not good for their growth and health even though we have to do in compulsion. This makes the scenario different and confusing as we don’t know how to deal with this.
Their academic performance is being affected badly because they cannot make concentration in study as their mind continuously distracted by other things on smartphone where they are studying, notification pop up of online games bother them continuously and not let them focus on their study. The second reason which affect their study is they feel alone and not feel connect to their friends and close relatives and not able to enjoy their company because they are trapped in gadget.
We can see that after covid-19 attack everything gone virtual, study, playing, offices, get together, and almost everything. In lockdown each member of family was stuck with gadget to get rid of boredom and the gaming business gone bloom. Even tv, smartphone and mobile companies are focusing aggressively on the gaming series product to tempt the customer.
The outcome of all of these is very disappointing as a parent because the most affected are children and youngsters. They are most vulnerable as they are very familiar to this technology and fickle by nature. They want to make themselves upgraded and techno savvy without knowing the side effect of these all.
Toddlers and Gaming
Toddlers are very smart and curious. Their learning skill is too good. We see that all around that the kid who is just 2 or 3 years old proficient to scroll the mobile; they can play game with agility and expertly. Some of them uses mobile more than 2 to 3 hours per day. They have become so addicted that they do not listen to anyone, starting tantrum if they are forced to stop playing on phone. This kind of behaviour sometimes scared us.
Teenagers and Gaming
Teenager are very sensitive and that’s why to control them is a little difficult to us. They are actively taking part in online games and online tournaments, as these platforms are engaging and addictive. It makes them aggressive if forced to stop using it. Online games which are very violent and abusive are designed for teenagers and youngster. The young generation is influence by these all-violent games, its effect on their mind is too bad and directly effects on their behaviour. Sometimes they get so addictive of these games.
In this time of technology, we cannot expect that the child would not take mobile phone and do not play games on. We cannot completely control them to not playing online games. So, what should we supposed to do?
The answer is ‘Improve Parenting Style’
we should make some dicipline that we can implement in our daily routine that will help us (parent and children) to manage our daily habit of gadgets.
What should we do so my child does not take gadget the whole day and can do concentrate on his study.?
