All parents out there know that it is the most important to make a strong connection with a child but somehow, we feel failed to make it. We have a hectic day and many responsibilities to perform so it becomes quite difficult for us to make it consistent to spend time with our child.
If we try to manage some time wisely, we can get some time to create a strong bond and connection with our child. We have some specific time in our whole day that we can use smartly and spend quality time with our children. As the time should be count in quality instead of quantity. And if you are a working parent then this article will surely help you.
1) Morning Magic
Every Morning comes with a high energy and calm mind. Your child is also feeling so and that is the perfect time to connect with them.
Focus on how to wake up your child. Give some cuddling, pampering, kissing (if they like) affirmation in your soft and gentle words. Your smooth touch can make their day.
Do not make a hurry to wake them up. Give them some time to wake up so they can soak the morning vibes. This will also be their habit for lifelong. They feel fresh and start fresh every morning. After waking them up, talk with them which is light and will not give them stress.
Try to wake them up early so it would stress your child to get ready for school and they have enough time to get ready. Make their morning fresh and stress-free so they feel fresh and energetic the whole day.
2) Before school time
We all are in a hurry in the morning, especially when everyone has to be on time for school and the office. But here you can be an opportunist too. You already gave them a fresh start, some cuddling. So, now you can discuss with them about their schedule and can give them to do list for the day. Discuss anything that you see as important but in short and effective words.
When they are going to the school/college wish them for their day and some affirmative words, encourage them to make their school day up. You can also kiss them or hug them according to their preference.
Well, this sound crazy but I feel that parents’ words and blessing always power up children. It can make a child’s day. They feel happy from the inside and it directly affects their performance.
This all-morning routine can give a feeling of security. It deeply impacts children’s minds and they feel that you are with them all the time.
3) After school time
The child is coming home after a few hours. He had a lot of activities at school. There is a lot on his plate that emptied their emotional cup.
The child is tired but still, he is willing to tell you his experiences, thoughts, and many things that happened at their school.
You are the safe space where they can feel the warmth of your love and be emotionally secure to fill up their emotional cup.
First of all, welcome your child by your gestures and words, they love your words. Then start a little talk about their day and friends without forcing.
Ask them a few questions like how you enjoyed, what fun you had at your school etc. Do not come directly to their study or performance, first start with the fun part and they’ll automatically give you an assessment of their study.
If he replies with excitement then go ahead but if you find that your child is uncomfortable then go mindfully.
Take a moment and give them some space to be comfortable and then ask about further. Maybe he had not had a good day or he faced some issues at the school, trying to go through the incident and listen to them attentively.
Your priority is to make them comfortable and assure them that you are with them and you are trying to understand their feelings.
All this is just a glimpse of what you can do for your child. Just remember your words play a crucial role in all this.
4) Meal time
Meal time is always a great time to connect with your child and dinner time suits them perfectly. After a long and busy day, all family members gather to have a meal and can talk about the whole day.
As a parent, you should not hesitate to share your experience with your child. It is the best way to show them to express their feelings and acceptance by modeling. There are so many stories of your day that you can share them with your family.
Some talks may give them a smile on their face; other talks have a sense of humor and many of them become learning lessons for them. After seeing how comfortably you share your experiences, they will start to share theirs too. After all, you are the role model for them.
In this way, you can peek into their life and because of your busy life, you get the opportunity to take a look at what’s going on in their life.
Bonus tip) Before going to bed
After a long and tiring day, your child needs your warmth love, and smooches. You can make a routine to tell stories as per their age and taste a little talk or anything soothing.
Children love to listen to stories. I still remember my childhood days, when my grandmom told us stories. That was the most loved time for me as a child.
Storytelling also helps to develop their mind and to pour virtues into children. So, grab this time to connect with your child which would be the most memorable part of their childhood.
There are many ways to make a connection with your child. The points above that I mention are just the basics that we can catch in our daily routine but there are lots of ways to connect with them. I’ve mentioned some other articles that will help you.
